Julie Kirkbride to stand again?Speculation is growing that Julie Kirkbride may stand again as MP for Bromsgrove at the next election. Ms Kirkbride has previously stated her intention to stand down following her exposure in the MPs' expenses scandal. |

Enraged VotersMs Kirkbride and her husband, Andrew Mackay MP, were each chased from their constituencies by enraged voters after being caught claiming massive parliamentary allowances and 'double-dipping.' However, the Bromsgrove Conservative Association claim the petition which placed pressure on Ms Kirkbride to resign is 'seriously flawed,' a charge strenuously denied by petition organisers. Bromsgrove Tories - options openThe Bromsgrove Conservative Association is also keeping its options open. It says no decision has been taken on the identity of the next parliamentary candidate. It has also praised Ms Kirkbride, and claims to have received 'many calls, letters and visits from across the community asking for her to stand again.' |

Mark France silencedOne of the key campaigners in the 'Julie Must Go!' campaign, Mark France, is effectively silenced. He faces disciplinary action from his employer - the local Jobcentre - over his role in the campaign. It is understood that his union has advised Mr France to avoid media interviews for the time being. |
